Gadkari lays mega foundation of 25 NH projects worth crores with total length of 257km

Rs. 2 lakh crore package for J&K in the next 2 years: Nitin Gadkari                                     DODA: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union MOS (IC) Science, Technology and Earth Sciences and MOS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the presence of Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma laid mega foundation of 25 NH projects worth Rs. 11721 cr at the Sports Stadium, Doda. It is pertinent to mention here that the 25 projects are being executed by NHIDCL, NHAI and BRO which will increase the total length of NH by 257 km.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari while speaking to the gathering at Doda said that the UT of J&K has a huge tourism potential which will be connected through numerous projects in the upcoming days for boosting employment and economic development of the UT. He said that these projects will work as important line for the development of the industrial sector.
Gadkari said that these projects for which the foundation have been laid today will work as spine for the socio-economic development of the Jammu province in general and for Chenab region in particularly.
He said that after taking over the charge of this department the central government has framed a separate road map for the development of this UT and to accelerate the developmental scenario number of bridges, roads, tunnels are being constructed on war footing basis at the estimated cost of thousands of crores, besides assured that the investment will be tripled in upcoming years upto Rs.2 lakh crore especially for J&K.
While talking about the futuristic projects the Union Minister said that the DPR for various roads and tunnels are at DPR stage and shall be completed in the upcoming days which will be big push to the Developmental scenario of the UT.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh also addressed the gathering and said that this is a historic day for the Chenab region since 25 new projects were started among which majority of the projects are for the region. He also urged the Union Minister to connect the Hambal, Kalhota, Marmat with the new alternate highway, a demand that was was on spot acceded to by the Union Minister.
He said that the Union Govt under the supervision of Narendra Modi is giving special focus to the areas which was neglected by previous regimes in the past.
Addressing the gathering at Sports Stadium, Doda LG said that after 2014 especially and after abrogation of Article 370 the execution of new roads, tunnels and other basic Infrastructure has gained huge push to ensure the overall development of the UT of J&K under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi. While counting the numerous projects under execution in J&K being implemented by the various executing agencies the LG said that these projects are important from not only tourism point of view but also for the economic growth and industrial development point of area.
The LG said that the progress of construction of new roads have been doubled across in recent years in J&K and apart from the construction of buildings, roads and tunnels, the UT Administration in coordination with Union Government has also kick-started other projects in the UT which includes plantation of High Density plants in Jammu province.
He further said that all projects are being executed on fast-track basis and will be completed in time bound manner, besides said that the Budgetary allocation has been doubled for the district which has now reached beyond 700 crores.
Among others present during the program are DDC Chairperson Doda, DDC Chairperson Kishtwar, Advisor to LG R R Bhatnagar, Principal Secretary to Govt UT J&K Shalendra Kumar, ADGP, Div Com, Besides other key officials of UT, Police and district administration.
Earlier the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha welcomed the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Jammu Airport.
