Fresh snowfall at Patnitop brings cheers to tourists

PATNITOP: Fresh snowfall at Patnitop and Nathatop- the famous tourist resorts of Jammu region of J&K UT has cheered up the tourists, hoteliers, taxi operators, mule owners, local vendors, photographers etc who are dependent on tourism as it has not only increased the tourist influx here but also brightened the prospects of their increased livelihood.
The occupancy in the private and government hotels and huts has also increased.
The tourists especially those on Vaishnodevi pilgrimage are rushing here to enjoy snow.
“Yesterday, when we had reached Lakhanpur while on way to Vaishnodevi we came to know of snowfall at Patnitop so we straight way came to Patnitop after paying obeisance at Vaishno Devi temple. I, my wife, children and grandchildren are having our life time enjoyment as we are lucky to see snowing and white blanket of snow all around us,” said Kuldip Parihar of Rajasthan.
“We feel as if we were in Kashmir and enjoying a lot free from any fear and away from COVID stress.” he added.
Amid Christmas and weekend holidays and college vacations in Jammu province a heavy rush of local as well as outside tourists is being witnessed here.
The tourists especially the children were seen enjoying various snow games, sledging, horse ride etc while as the elders were seen busy in photography and doing shopping.
The students of some colleges from Jammu and Udhampur were on a picnic at Patnitop today.
“This snowfall has provided us an opportunity to come out of a lean business period and enlivened the chances of a better business in coming days for all those who are dependent on tourism. Our occupancy too has increased now. Nature lovers would cherish to see a good snowfall during the last days of the year and enjoy the New Year celebration,” said Sanjay Seth, Manager, JKTDC, Patnitop.
