New Delhi: Congress MPs on Thursday staged a protest against the Central Government on Parliament premises, demanding repeal of the three controversial farm laws.
The protestors, led by Rahul Gandhi held a banner against the farm laws and raised anti-government slogans.
Meanwhile, above 200 members of Samyukt Kisan Morch (SKM) and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding annulment of the farm laws.
Under the farm laws, private players are encouraged to buy directly from the farmers. This, the farmers fear, will lead to the closure of the Mandi system and deny them the benefit of the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The controversial laws have been withheld by the Centre which faced strong protest from the farmers’ unions for about 18 months.
