Establish Sugar Mill in Jammu: Khajuria urges Govt

JAMMU: Expressing his concern over the losses being faced by Sugarcane farmers, J&K BJP Kissan Morcha president Omi Khajuria urged upon the government for establishment of a Sugar Mill in Jammu or Kathua district.
Khajuria, who visited the sugarcane farmers’ fields today to take stock of the problems being faced by them, said, sugarcane crop in the rural areas could neither be transported to the sugar mills of Punjab nor it could be carried to Jammu for juice extraction as there are no Rehries due to ongoing lockdown. Consequent to which, farmers have been facing enormous losses as their crop is spoiling and the juice getting exhausted in the fields itself.
“If a Sugar Mill get established in Jammu or Kathua district, the farmers will be able to transport the sugarcane timely to the Mill and get the appropriate price of their crops in future,” Khajuria stated.
He informed the farmers that President BJP J&K UT Ravinder Raina has assured to highlight the grievances of farmers before the Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu for adequate compensation for the loss of sugarcane farmers and establishment of a sugar mill in Jammu or Kathua so that in farmers don’t face losses in future. Khajuria assured the farmers that at their problems will be solved soon with the help of administration.
Kisan Morcha leader Raman Singh Chib and Programme Coordinator Yash Seth were also present.
