Easing of curbs: SMC now to focus on hospital, marketplaces, public office

Srinagar: In view of the imminent gradual easing of restrictions, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced to shift its entire focus on hospitals, marketplaces and public office besides community and schools.
The SMC will constitute an advisory Committee on COVID-19 which will also consist of epidemiologists, educationists, economists and trade representatives besides senior government officers from health, education and revenue departments.
SMC Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo said the SMC will be evolving its COVID19 response in view of imminent gradual easing of restrictions.
The SMC will now shift its entire focus to hospitals, marketplaces, schools and public offices and community installations.
”As we plan to gradually ease out of the lockdown in the next couple of days, in addition to Senior Government Officers from Health, Education and Revenue Deparments, I will be nominating doctors, activists, experts and entrepreneurs to the ‘Srinagar Advisory Committee on COVID-19”.
He said the Advisory Committee – as mandated into formation by the Lt Governor will work as a bridge between the community representatives and the administration in devising a cohesive plan to ensure it remains in control of the COVID-19 challenge.
The Srinagar Advisory Committee on COVID-19 will be assisted by field coordinators and feedback teams from various line departments and will meet under my Chairmanship on a bi-weekly basis to start with – then going on to a weekly basis as systems fall in place.
Srinagar Advisory Committee will also consist of epidemiologists, educationists, economists and trade representatives.
“I will approve and announce the advisory nominations in the next two days and look forward to taking every section of society on board, Mattoo said.
