Dozens of animals buried under snow avalanche, 35 people rescued in Kulgam

Srinagar: Dozens of animals, including horses, died under a snow avalanche in Pirpanchal range in south Kashmir while 35 people were rescued, official sources said on Saturday.
They said a message was received that members of five families from Bakerwal community, comprising 35 people, including women and children, were caught in snow avalanche in Pirpanchal area in Kulgam. However, immediately a rescue operation was launched and all the 35 persons were rescued, they said.
However, dozens of their animals were buried under the avalanche, sources said adding further details are awaited.
