DM Kishtwar distributes masks among inter-state migrants

DM Rajinder Singh Tara distributing masks among inter-state migrants stranded at Helipad Kishtwar on Wednesday.

KISHTWAR: Continuing its preventive efforts to contain the Coronavirus outbreak in the district and particularly among the most vulnearable sections of society, District Magistrate Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today distributed masks among 120 migrant labourers and inter-state migrants who presently stranded at the Helipad Kishtwar during this nationwide lockdown.
He was Accompanied with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pawan Parihar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar Anoop Kumar, Tehsildar Kishtwar Parmod Kumar and various other officials among others.
Labour department head by Commissioner/ Secretary Saurabh Bhagat has provided the masks for distribution among the inter-state migrants and labourers and shall be distributed among all such workers in the Kishtwar, said ALC Kishtwar Anoop Kumar.
Besides this, the migrants were asked to use these masks properly as a protective device to safeguard themselves as well as others against possible transmission of COVID-19 infection which also spreads through droplets in the air released by sneezing and coughing.

In his interaction with these migrant workers, DM said that one can also use clean handkerchief or homemade mask to prevent himself from Coronavirus infection in case the readymade masks are not available. He also stressed upon the recipients to follow the social distancing and other SOPs and guidelines issued by govt from time to time like frequent handwashing, using elbow, handkerchief or tissue papers during sneezing and coughing, avoid frequent touching of face and nose with hands , using masks etc.
Pertinent to mention here that these inter-state migrants have already been provided ration, food and other essentials by District administration so that they may not suffer from empty stomach during this strained time of lockdown.
