Dist BJP office bearer among six booked for kidnapping, murder in UP

Bulandshahr: A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against six members of a family including a district level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearer, for abduction and murder of a taxi driver here in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said on Thursday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh here said that prima facie, the cause behind the murder appears to be property dispute.
Neeraj Verma, a resident of Mohalla Najim Pura Bhoor of the city used to drive his car as taxi.
As per his wife Gunjan Verma, he had left his house on July 27 saying that he has been called for mediation for solving the property dispute. When he did not return till late night, they started searching for him but in vain. Later, his wife filed a missing person’s report in the Kotwali Nagar.
A car was recovered near Balipura on July 29 which was identified as Neeraj’s car. Subsequently, the police launched a search for Neeraj near the Balipura canal and later found a body who was identified as Neeraj by his wife Gunjan.
The police sent the body for post-mortem. The deceased’s wife has registered a case naming Neeraj’s brother, nephew alleging kidnapping, murder and trying to erase evidence of murder.
Among those identified in the case, one is a district level office-bearer of the BJP. A police team has been formed for the arrest of the identified accused.
