Director Agri reviews overall functioning of Deptt

SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today chaired a meeting of the Divisional Level Officers and Chief Agriculture Officers of Kashmir Division to review the overall functioning of the department.
In the meeting, the Director specifically reviewed the progress of physical and financial status of centrally sponsored schemes and other prestigious projects that are under implementation. He urged upon the officers to take appropriate measures to further empower the farming community by providing them know how about the new innovations.
The Director also called upon the officers to frame Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in all the districts. He said that Kashmir based products such as Kashmiri Saffron, Kashmiri Meetha Rice, Mushk Budji, and Honey which are of high quality and their marketing will be ensured in the national market so that farmers could get better prices.
The Director stressed for crop cut surveys of Kharief and instructed Joint Director Agriculture Extension Kashmir for monitoring the crop cut estimates of all districts. He directed for expediting the process of procurement of SR-3, SR-4, SR-5 and other improved varieties of Paddy from the Seed Village Programmes so that high yielding varieties of Paddy are provided to the farmers for the next Kharief. Andrabi instructed the officers for organizing awareness programmes in each district about popularization of fertilizer application programme for balanced doze of fertilizers.
In the meeting, the status of soil health card scheme, Kissan Credit Card Scheme and PM-Kissan was reviewed and instructions were given for projecting the liabilities in case of rent and other programmes.
