Delhi police raid residence of Maulana Saad in Shamli, cleric’s body found in gunny bag

Shamli: Amidst raid by a joint team of Crime Branch of Delhi Police and sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in search of Tabilighi Jamaat chief Maulana Saad at his farm house here on Thursday, the recovery of body of a missing madarsa manager or cleric of the district, has created a mystery of sorts.

A half-burnt mutilated body of the cleric was recovered in a gunny bag on the banks of Yamuna, near the farm house in the wee hours of Thursday, just few hours before team from Delhi raided the place in search of Maulana Saad.

The local cops sent the body for post-mortem and detained two suspects for interrogation. Saad was wanted by the Delhi Police for holding a Markaz in Nizamuddin area and later holding thousands of Jamaati people, despite the lockdown, due to Novel Coronavirus scare in the country.

The cops alleged that he did not inform police about the presence of Jamaat members in big numbers. Maulana Saad has, since then, gone underground and is just positing clippings, claiming him to be in self-quarantine.

However, the raid did not yield any result as Maulana Saad could not be found.

Reports said that Shamli police recovered a gunny bag from the banks of Yamuna, in which they found the body of Mufti Sufiyan, who was manager of Madarsa Jamiya Hudlalil Aalmin in Mawi Kakaur in Kairana. He was missing since a week.

A missing case was only lodged on last Monday. Shamli police started investigation and only got success in tracing the body in the wee hours of Thursday.
They claimed that the body was half burnt and mutilated, which pointed that the accused eliminated the madarsa manager on the same day and later also tried to burn the body to conceal crime. They later dumped the body in a gunny bag.

The cops took two suspects in custody for interrogation and were waiting for post-mortem examination report.

Circle Officer of Kairana, Pradeep Singh said that Mufti Sufiyan took charge as Manager of the above madarsa in 2017 and they were probing all angles, to zero down on his killers.
