DC Samba reviews progress of Panchayat Electoral Rolls Revision

SAMBA : District Panchayat Election Officer, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta today chaired a meeting of district officers to review the progress Revision Exercise of Panchayat Electoral Rolls-2023 here at Conference Hall.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Rajinder Singh; ADC, Rakesh Dubey; DIO Ajay Sharma; DIO NIC, Sanjeev Kapoor, besides all EROs/AEROs and other officials participated.
During the meeting a detailed review was taken of claims and objections resolved Polling Station wise, SVEEP activities conducted at Panchayat/Block level regarding the Panchayat Summary Revision EROLL 2023, Scanning and punch- ing of forms of Block wise, Submission of Daily Progress as per format among others.
The Deputy Commissioner also inquired the availability of recently updated electoral rolls and
Panchayat electoral rolls, besides laying emphasis on the role and responsibilities of EROs, AEROs and PEBOs during the Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision.
The DC directed the District Information Officer, (Nodal Officer SVEEP), to conduct a sustained and widespread awareness campaign in rural areas of the District.
The schedule for holding Special camps in all the Blocks of district Samba was also discussed during the meeting. The DC impressed upon all AEROs to direct the PBLOs to remain present at their polling locations along with the draft Electoral Roll & requisite forms for assistance of voters on the said camp
days.
The Roll Observers, EROs and AEROs besides Nodal Officers were asked to supervise the special camps on the dates notified by the State Election Commission UT of J&K and ensure 100% registration of all eligible and left out voters during Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls so that no voter is left out.
Meanwhile, The District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) today discussed the measures to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking, here at its meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta.
During the meeting, a detailed deliberation was held on measures
taken to curb the menace of drug abuse in the district.
The NCORD Committee mem- bers informed that several drug ped- dlers and habitual offenders have been arrested in Samba especially in the border area. “Licenses of the Chemists have been suspended for violating the prescribed rules and regulations,” informed the Drug Controller Officer. It was further informed that an awareness cam- paign has been launched in schools, colleges, Panchayats, on social media platforms to channelise the potential of the youth towards a pos- itive direction.
The possibility of Drug traffick- ing from across the Border was dis- cussed in p3resence of authorities from the BSF. The Committee called for putting in place an effective mechanism to ensure zero tolerance against drug peddling along the bor- der belt.
The Deputy Commissioner laid emphasis on identification of drug addicts and their rehabilitation.
Among others SSP, Abhishek Mahajan; ADC Rakesh Dubey, ACR Manu Hansa, ACD, DIO, DSWO, SDMs, CMO, SHOs, Tehsildars, BSF representatives, Education Department representatives, and other concerned officers were also present.
