DC finalises convergence plan under JJM in Kargil

DC Baseer ul Haq Choudhary finalising convergence plan under JJM in Kargil on Saturday.

KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary on Saturday chaired a meeting regarding the finalization of convergence plan under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in respect of PHE Department.
District Superintending Engineer PWD Ved Prakash, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Hadi, Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chander, Chief Agriculture Officer Kacho Muhammad Ali Khan, Chief Education Officer Nazir Ahmad Wani, District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the action plan for water conservation proposed by PHE Department in consultation with other concerned departments like Forest, Rural Development, and Agriculture, Geology and Mining and other concerned departments under JJM and identifying funds for the same.
The DC took detailed review of the possible activities projected by the departments under the schemes including 14th FC, SBM-G, MGNREGS, IWMP, Repair, Renovation and Restoration of Water Bodies, RKVY, PMKSY, PMKVY, Samagra Shiksha, District Mineral Development Fund and Tribal Sub Scheme.
While reviewing the activities proposed to be taken under afforestration and regeneration of forest ecosystem, the DC directed the officers concerned to enhance the amount of funds proposed and prioritize dry areas for plantation.
As regards to MGNREGS and IWMP, the DC asked officers to lay emphasis on taking up works for water recharge including construction of check dams, recharge pits, repair and renovation of water bodies and other related works.
Meanwhile, the CEO Kargil informed that 128 schools have been projected for augmentation of drinking water supply under Samagra Shiksha.
Underlining the need to bring in necessary modifications in the proposed activities under different schemes, the DC directed officers to ascertain the actual requirements on ground by conducting field visits besides also holding discussions with the inhabitants.
Meanwhile, the DC gave on spot directions to the Executive Engineer PHE and concerned engineers to restoration of water supply connections.
The engineers informed that restoration work is going on in full swing and assured the DC that all connections will be restored by tomorrow evening.
