Daily Covid-19 cases below 40 k after 102 days, 970 deaths

New Delhi: After 102 days, India has reported less than 40000 daily Covid cases on Tuesday. Deaths were also lower at 970 in the last 24 hours, according to the data provided by the Union Health Ministry.
The nation reported 37,566 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 3,03,16,897.
With 970 more deaths, the total number of fatalities rose to 3,97,637 and the fatality rate stood at 1.31 per cent.
A total of 56,994 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,93,66,601. With these new recoveries, the recovery rate rose from 96.80 per cent to 96.87 per cent.
The active caseload further declined to 5,52,659, i.e. 1.82 per cent of total cases.
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate remains currently at 2.74 per cent.
Daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.12 per cent, less than five per cent for 22 consecutive days, the Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 40,81,39,287 samples were tested so far for coronavirus, of which 17,68,008 were tested on Monday.
Since January 16 this year 32,90,29,510 doses have been administered, of which 52,76,457 were administered in the past 24 hours.
