Jammu: Asserting that the air quality is already not good, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday appealed to people for minimal use of firecrackers on the festival of Diwali.
‘Festival of Lights’, Diwali will be celebrated countrywide on November 14.
“I want to appeal to all whether you obey it or not, please make minimal use of firecrackers on Diwali,” Dr Abdullah said while addressing the party workers here.
He said, “air quality is already not good and it will (firecrackers) further pollute the environment. People having chronic ailments and are suffering due to prevailing situations (COVID pandemic) can have problems.”
“Pray at your places and also remember us so that God showers blessings upon us for good days ahead for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Take care of old people, maintain brotherhood and harmony, said Dr Abdullah.
