COVID-19: India records 2,26,770 cases, 6,348 deaths

New Delhi: India recorded 9,851 new coronavirus cases and 273 deaths in the past 24 hrs, pushing its overall tally to 2,26,770, Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
The death toll has now mounted to 6,348 after recording the highest toll in a single day since outbreak, the data said.
The total number of active coronavirus patients in India zoomed to 1,10,960. Nearly 48 per cent of the total coronavirus cases — 1.09 lakh patients were recovered from the disease. As per the data, 9,463 patients have recovered since Thursday.
At least six states or union territories witnessed the biggest spike in COVID-19 infection in last 24 hours — Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Assam.
