COVID-19: CWC contributes Rs 5.65 cr to PM Care Fund

New Delhi: The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has contributed Rs 5.65 in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus to the Prime Minister’s Care Fund.
The PSU, which comes under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has also deferred the storage tariff revision by three months, till June 30, in view of providing economic relief to the depositors, who are under financial stress, due to the pandemic.
The total contribution includes the CSR fund and the employees’ voluntarily contribution of their one-day salary.
For this arrangement, the CWC will bear the impact of Rs 7.50 crore on this account.
Meanwhile , the CWC has kept it’s Central Warehouses (CWs) open for distribution of food grain and other essential commodities, at about 400 locations across the country.
CWC employees are working tirelessly, to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
During the 10 days of COVID-19 lockdown, CWC has handled 161 rakes in 11 states and 6.51 Lakh MT
food grain to the demand via Public Distribution System (PDS), the Corporation said.
