Consultative Workshop held on Forest, Environment & Wildlife Laws

SRINAGAR: A one-day State level Consultative workshop on Forest, Environment and Wildlife Acts and Rules in pursuant to the J&K Re-organization Act, 2019 was today organized by J&K, Forest Department at Banquet Hall, Srinagar.
The speakers at the workshop deliberated upon the Forest Rights Act and various laws regarding forest, environment and wildlife.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Dr Mohit Gera spoke on Forest Laws-orientation and purpose. He said that a report on amended laws in the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 has been submitted to the Government for notification.
MD SFC Vasu Yadav deliberated upon J&K Reorganization Act, 2019 and Forest Governance in J&K. He informed that 164 State laws have been repealed and 106 Central laws extended in the changed scenario.
Former PCCF and HOFF Tamil Naidu, R K Upadhayay spoke at length about the Wildlife, Forest and Environment jurisprudence and also illustrated upon the various principals underlying these Acts and rules including Indian Forest Act 1927, Forest conservation Act, 1920 and wildlife Protection Act 1972 with inputs from Criminal procedure Court-(CRPC).
The workshop was attended by Heads of Departments of all the Forest wings including, Dr. Neelu Gera, Director Social Forestry, Chief Conservator Forests, T. Rabi Kumar, Chief Wildlife Warden, S K Gupta, CCF Kashmir, S F A. Geelani, Conservator of Forests, Irfan Ali Shah, other senior officials from Wildlife and Forest Departments and officers from line department.
