Chess training centre opened at MA Stadium

Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, J&K Sports Council Ashok Singh Jamwal during an event at MA Stadium Jammu on Thursday.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) today opened the designated hall for those Chess enthusiasts within New Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
The training facility was dedicated to the Chess players by Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, J&K Sports Council Ashok Singh Jamwal, in the presence of office bearers of the All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA).
Senior players, Manoj Kohli, Maxim Singh, Ashutosh Jamwal, Arvindu and Ritish Pathania were among others present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, president of AJKCA, Atul Kumar Gupta and senior vice president, Baldev Raj thanked the Sports Council for opening the chess training centre within MA Stadium. He assured that Chess Association will continue to provide best possible platform to players in future also with the support of Sports Council.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Sports Officer said, “Sportspersons are the messengers of peace, prosperity and harmony and the events like this help youth to hone their sporting skills besides keeping them away from anti social activities.”
“Sports Council is committed to promote each sport in every nook and corner of Union Territory of J&K and enhance sports culture among youth,” he said.
Important to mention here that similar Chess training facility was opened at MA Stadium a decade ago but could not survive for long in the absence of encouragement and support from the Sports Council.
