Brave heart remembered for his supreme sacrifice

Local Shaheed Samarak Committee members paying tributes to martyr Major IS Babbar in Jammu on Wednesday.

JAMMU: Local Shaheed Samarak Committee, Sainik Colony under the patronage of the Sainik Cooperative House Building Society Ltd (SCHBS), paid floral tribute to the gallant martyr Major IS Babbar on his 18th martyrdom anniversary.

Major Babbar had bravely sacrificed his life in Counter Insurgency Operations on 17th June 2003 killing three Bodo militants single handedly. He was awarded ‘Kirti Chaker’ by President of India.

Rich floral tributes were paid to Maj Babbar by a number of dignitaries, locals and family members to mark the occasion with wet eyes and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
While interacting with the participants, Major Harnam Singh, Ex Joint Chairman SCHBS appreciated the efforts of the committee, especially its convener Padam Singh Choudhary for organizing such a programme in a professional manner.
The event was conducted maintaining social distancing while the participants were wearing masks as per the instructions on COVID-19.

The event culminated with vote of thanks by Col GS Babbar, father of the martyr. While interacting with the participants present on the occasion, Maj Gen SK Sharma expressed his gratitude for their participation during the unprecedented pandemic.
The prominent among others present on the occasion included Brig Suchet Singh, Brig SS Saini, Col HS Bali, Col Atma Singh, Maj Jamit Singh, Capt Chuni Lai; Jai Singh (Ex Corporator) SS Latti, Sikander Singh, Gurmeet Randhawa (Corporator Ward No 69) and Balbir Singh (President Gurudwara), Karam Jeet Singh and Dilip Singh.
