Srinagar: Body of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) driver was retrieved from a river in Drass in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh after a fortnight on Wednesday, official sources said.
However, operation to recover the body of an officer of Indian Engineering Service (IES) of BRO was still going on, they said.
Driver Balwinder Singh and IES officer Subhan Ali, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, drowned after their vehicle fell into a river in border town of Drass on June 22.
Rescue teams from police, SDRF and local volunteers launched massive search operation to retrieve the bodies without any success mainly due to heavy flow of water in the river.
However, the rescue teams were able to retrieve the body of Singh at Jazgound, about 25 km from the accident spot, they said.
Massive rescue operation was going on to recover the body of Ali, they said.
