Bills on Uniform Civil Code, population control to be introduced in RS

New Delhi: A Bill to provide for the constitution of the National Inspection and Investigation Committee to prepare a Uniform Ciil Code and implement it in the country is scheduled to be introduced in the Rajya Sbha on Friday. The bill will be introduced by BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena.
The proposed legislation has been listed at the top of the business list of the Rajya Sabha for Friday.
Another private member’s bill to control population is also slated for introduction and passing on Friday, the fourth day of the Monsoon Session.
The Population Regulation Bill, to be introduced by Rakesh Sinha, seeks to achieve the “goal of stabilisation of the population ommensurte with the emerging social, economic, health, nutritional, epidemiological, environmental and other developmental needs of the national economy.”
Both the Houses of Parliament could not function for the first three days of the Monsoon Session, due to frequent adjournments caused by the ruckus created by the Opposition raising a host of issues including the Pegasus spyware , farm laws and rising fuel prices.
