BBIA delegation interacts with Chairman J&K PCB

JAMMU: A delegation of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) led by president Lalit Mahajan called on Chairman, J&K Pollution Control Board Suresh Chugh and highlighted the various issues related to the Industrial Sector of J&K for early resolution.
Tarun Singla, Senior Vice president, BBIA; Ajay Langer, Vice president; Viraaj Malhotra, General Secretary; Rajesh Jain, Secretary and Vivek Singhal, Treasurer were also present.
Mahajan appreciated the working of the Pollution Control Board under the Chairmanship of Suresh Chugh resulting in time-bound clearance of consent of the Industrial Units under the ‘Ease of Doing Business Concept’ resulting into Zero Pendency as confirmed by the Chairman.
During the course of discussion, Mahajan drew attention of the Chairman in respect of higher rates being charged by the authorized agencies in respect of lifting of hazardous waste from the Industrial Units and requested the Chairman to take up the matter with the agencies for the reduction in the rates. Mahajan also highlighted the problems being faced by Cement Manufacturing Unit Holders for Online Monitoring System due to restrictions imposed on Internet Services.
It was brought into the notice of Chairman in respect of number of Units engaged in the manufacturing of Plastic Goods already closed due to ban imposed by the Govt. The Chairman was requested to take up the matter with the Industries Department for the rehabilitation of such units by providing soft loans to switch over to Bio-Degradable products. Other points discussed in the meeting included Operation of ETPs by J&K SIDCO in time-bound manner, functioning of State Pollution Control laboratories, plantation in the Industrial areas and other related issues.
Chairman, J&K Pollution Control Board assured the delegation to resolve the issues on priority basis and requested the president to intimate all the unit holders to operate their ETP plants on regular basis which will help to control the pollution level with in the Industrial areas and also offered free plants for plantation in their Units.
