Barring at historic Jamia Masjid, Shab-e-Barat was observed across Kashmir peacefully

Srinagar,  Barring the historic Jamia Masjid, night long prayers of Shab-e-Barat were observed all across the Kashmir valley with religious fervor peacefully.

The largest gatherings were held at several shrines including Hazratbal, Khan-e-Kha-e-Moula, Makhdoom Sahib, Dastgeer Sahib and Charar-e-Sharief. The prayers went off peacefully.

The managing body of Jamia mosque, Srinagar alleged that authorities bared the congregational prayers on Shab-e-Barat, an allegation denied by police.

Shab-e-Barat was observed last night.

Shab-e-Barat is considered a major event in which Muslims collectively worship and ask for forgiveness of their wrong doings.

Special prayers were also held for the prosperity and peace for Jammu and Kashmir during the congregational prayers at various places of the valley.

Reports of large gatherings of people in mosques and shrines were also received from major district headquarters of the valley.

No untoward incident was reported from any part of the valley during the night long prayers, officials said.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha has extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.

“On this sacred occasion, I do convey my greetings and best wishes to the people. May the Almighty continue to guide us on the path of selfless service, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and usher in happiness and prosperity for all”, LG Sinha said in his message.
