Army organises Badminton competition for girls

Exuberant girls displaying their trophies after participation in tournament organised for Army at Kotranka.

RAJOURI: Indian Army organised Badminton Competition for girls at Kotranka, District Rajouri. The event was aimed at promoting sports amongst the youth, especially amongst the girls and also to empower the girls of this remote areas to step out and participate.
The event was organised from February 5 to 10 at Kotranka.
A total of 36 exuberant girls participated in the tournament organised for Senior category (14 to 18 years) and Junior category (below 14 years).
In Senior category, team of Mehak Naseer and Mehar Naseer from Budhal won the Doubles competition and the Singles event won by Saima Naz from Kotranka. In Junior category, Yaseen Kouser and Monica Sharma from Budhal won the doubles competition, whereas in Singles Shaista Kouser from Budhal was the winner. Mehak Naseer from Budhal was adjudged as the Best Player of the tournament.
Locals including elders and youth lauded the efforts of Indian Army for organising such an event exclusively for the girls in the region.
