New Delhi: CPWD, NDMC and other agencies undertook a massive sanitisation drive in all buildings situated in the Parliament House Complex on Saturday.
The comprehensive drive included the sanitisation of all indoor and outdoor areas, including individual offices, restrooms, and all common areas, an official statement said.
After an inspection by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Parliament House Complex, Lok Sabha Secretariat had previously conducted a similar exercise on March 21.
On that occasion, Mr Birla said that awareness and restraint are key to the prevention of the COVID-19. Thereafter, several such exercises were undertaken on periodic basis.
In the exercise held today, CPWD, NDMC and other allied agencies, working within the Parliament, used specialised equipments and strong chemical disinfectants like Sodium hydrochloride in order to ensure sanitation in and around Parliament House Complex.
The sanitation drive was conducted on Saturday as a precautionary measure and to minimise contact between officials working within the Parliament House Complex. Currently, as per orders issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, a certain number of officers and staff are required to work from home.
