Reviews measures taken for containing COVID-19 pandemic
JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan reviewed arrangements made for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 2020 commencing from next month at a high level meeting of officers here today.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole, IGP Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and representative of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board joined the meeting through video conferencing.
The Advisor reviewed the status of all the arrangements like clearing of track, installation of lights, water tanks, toilets, generators, PSPs, Public Address System, communication towers and road signages before the scheduled date.
Baseer Khan also enquired about deployment of medical teams, fire tenders, oxygen booths, temporary ration depots and service providers like tents, beddings, ponies and Palkiwalas for the yatra. He stressed that no dearth of essentials should be felt either by yatris or administrative facilitators deployed there.
All the Deputy Commissioners gave a detailed brief of the arrangements being made by their respective administrations. The Advisor was apprised by the DCs that most of the arrangements have already been done at the Holy cave and enroute for the yatra and now they are giving finishing touches to the arrangements as per the standard practices. He was further informed that most of the works have been completed or are at the final stages of completion.
The Advisor directed the concerned officers to gear up their men and machinery to ensure adequate arrangements for the comfortable journey and stay of Yatris. He asked the concerned departments to make sure that the pilgrims do not face any hardship on account of basic amenities.
Meanwhile, Advisor Baseer Khan also convened a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review the initiatives of additional strategies to combat COVID-19.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Pole, all DCs of Kashmir Division, Director SKIMS Soura, Director Health Services Kashmir, Principal GMC Srinagar, and other senior officers of the concerned departments attended the meeting through video conferencing.
At the outset, the Advisor sought feedback from all the DCs regarding steps being taken by them for containment and management of Coronavirus.
The Advisor directed all the DCs of Kashmir Division and the Divisional Administration to ensure hundred percent screening and testing of chronic patients suffering from the critical diseases viz Diabetes, Cancer, Hypertension and undergoing Dialysis and those who are 60 years & above, as they are the vulnerable class and can easily succumb to the COVID 19 infection with fatality, if not screened, tested and treated at the earliest.
The Advisor emphasized upon the officers to ensure that guidelines issued by Government of India and UT administration are strictly adhered to and there is no violation of the lockdown measures in red zone areas. He asked the authorities to impose fine on the people who violate the lockdown.
He also asked them to conduct aggressive and intensive testing in their respective districts especially in the red zone areas.
He also asked them to generate more and more awareness among the general public and involve them in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic.
