JAMMU: Continuing with the streak of late night and early morning surprise inspections, yesterday in a post-midnight surprise checking round by Amit Sharma, Administrator, Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu at around 2.30 am, couple of Nursing Supervisors, Nurses and Nursing Orderlies deployed in the Night Shift were not found at work-place, especially in Emergency of Government Medical College Hospital. Amit Sharma warned of strict action against the erring staff who tend to remain absent from duty deliberately without any sanctioned leave in future in various Associated Government Hospitals of Jammu.
Administrator Amit Sharma also conducted a surprise medical check prior to this inside the Government SMGS Hospital wherein two Emergency services including Gynaecology and Paediatrics run round the clock. He was accompanied by Dr Divya Suri, Incharge CMO here but the para-medical staff was found present inside all the wards. However, the Administrator expressed his displeasure over the state of cleanliness inside the wards and especially sulabh-maintained washrooms on the Ground Floor.
Accordingly, directions were issued to the CMO and Medical Superintendent of Government SMGS and Government Medical College Hospitals by the Administrator Amit Sharma to conduct these drives regularly. He further checked all the Registers and Notes, which remain in the custody of concerned CMOs of these two vital Hospitals of Jammu to oversee their day-to-day functioning including OPD Registers, Labour Ward Admission Registers, Security Staff Attendance Register, etc in Government SMGS Hospital which was largely found in order.
Amit also took a round of different wards of Emergency in GMC Hospital alongwith Supervisors, who joined him later in the rounds and the team visited post Emergency Care Rooms, Plaster OMG, X-Ray and Ultrasound Facility Rooms here. He also visited 24-hour functional Laboratories and the staff was found working. Before leaving, Administrator checked the registers of Medical Records Department and directed that lights should remain switched-on alongwith presence of staff to issue Emergency OPD Cards at any point of time during day and night time.
Administrator Amit Sharma advised the CMOs and staff to perform their duties with total zeal and dedication. The staff assured the Administrator that they shall come upto expectations in times to come and follow all norms including proper dress code, wearing aprons, uniforms, displaying name plates and I-Cards etc and not leaving duty without prior permission of the competent authorities.
