62 more people test Covid+ve, toll mounts to 1183

Srinagar: The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases continue to rise unabated with 62 more persons, including 46 from Kashmir and 16 from Jammu, testing positive on Sunday, taking the total number of infected people in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to 1183.

With this, as many as 389 new COVID-10 cases, mostly of them from Kashmir, were tested positive for the infection this week in J&K, where the death toll due to the infection has risen to 13 even as a 29-year-old woman became the latest victim of the virus in Kashmir on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 33 COVID-19 positive patients were on Sunday discharged after being treated successfully in J&K.

An official on Sunday said that 46 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir division while 16 new cases were reported from Jammu. “Kulgam recorded the highest number of 28 new COVID-19 cases followed by Anantnag with 15 cases,” he said, adding six people tested positive for the infection in Jammu.

He said five persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Ramban in Jammu. “Two new cases were reported from Samba in Jammu,” he said, adding Srinagar, Pulwama, Udhampur, Kathua and Poonch recorded one case each.
