5 people die due to COVID-19, death toll mounts to 249 in J&K

Srinagar: Five people including two from Pulwama, once each from Baramulla, Budgam and Jammu died due to COVID-19 since late Sunday evening, taking the death toll due to the virus in the Union Territory of J&K to 249.
With these deaths, 214 people have lost their lives due to infection in 46 days, and 234 people in 60 day in J&K, where 701 new positive cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of infected persons to 13,899.
Last week recorded the highest death took in a week with 62 people, including three CRPF jawans, dying due to the infection in J&K.
Official sources said that a 65-year-old man, a resident of Rafiabad in Baramulla, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for pneumonia. “The patient, who tested positive for COVID-19, died at the hospital this morning,” they said.
They said a 60-year-old man, a resident of Pampore in Pulwama, was admitted to SKIMS after he tested positive for the infection. “The patient, who was suffering from a respiratory problem, died at the hospital.
Another patient, a resident of Shadimarg in Pulwama, died at SHMS hospital on Monday. “The 65-year-old woman, who was tested positive for COVID-19, was suffering from bilateral pneumonia,” they said.
Meanwhile, two patients, a 48-year-old woman from Jammu and a 62-year-old woman from Budgam, died in separate hospitals late last evening. “The woman, a resident of Satwari in Jammu, died soon after she was admitted to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu,” they said, adding the patient tested positive for COVID-19 later.
They said the Budgam woman succumbed to COVID-19 at SHMS hospital. “The COVID-19 patient, who was admitted to the hospital on July 9, was suffering from a respiratory problem,” they added.
With this fatality, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 51 in Baramulla. Srinagar is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of causalities with 62 deaths due to COVID-19.
The number of deaths stands at 24 in Kulgam while 19 people have lost their lives to the disease in Shopian, 19 in Budgan and Anantnag. Thirteen people have lost their lives in Kupwara, 15 in Pulwama and five in Bandipora. Ganderbal district recorded fourth death due to COVID-19 on July 12.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported 20 fatalities while 229 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
As many as 48 patients — including 10 persons from Baramulla, 12 from Srinagar, six from Kulgam, three from Anantnag, Kupwara and Budgam, Jammu region, two each from Shopian and Ganderbal, one patient each from Pulwama, Bandipora and a BSF jawan — died due to COVID-19 between July 6 and July 12.
As many as 41 people — including nine from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, five each from Anantnag, three from Kulgam, Budgam and Shopian, two each from Kupwara and Bandipora, one each from Jammu and Ganderbal — died due to COVID-19 between June 29 and July 5.
