Woman commits suicide in Samba

SAMBA : A woman committed suicide by allegedly hanging from the ceiling fan in her house at village Chalyari falling under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police Station in district Samba.
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Rimpi Devi, a 37-year-old lady, wife of Kamal Kishore, resident of Chalyari. Sources added that last evening when the family members saw her hanging, they immediately informed the police. As soon as the information was received, the police party of Police Chowki Rajpura immediately reached the spot and took the dead body in its custody and shifted it to District Hospital Samba for legal formalities.
Today, a team of doctors of District Hospital Samba conducted her post-mortem after which the body was handed over to the legal heirs for performing her last rites.
However, the relatives of the deceased staged a protest at the District Hospital Samba and demanded that strict action should be taken against the husband and his family members of the deceased. They alleged that the family was responsible for creating a situation that compelled her to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, SHO Ghagwal Vijay Verma assured the protesting people that strict action would be taken against them under the law. After the assurance of SHO Vijay Verma, the protesters calmed down and took the lady’s body for cremation. In this regard, the police have taken cognizance of the matter and have started further investigation. The exact reasons behind the death could not be ascertained as yet.
