If I ask what is that you consider to be your most valu- able possession? This is a million dollar question. You will readily say one or the mother of the following.
You may say an ever building purse, a fat bank balance, enviable mansions and cars, number of shares in all blue- chip companies, so many licenses and permits or your weight in Gold. But my friend you missed to mention the really most valuable possession. It is your mind, a serene and healthy mind. In reality it is the single most valuable possession any one can have. Rest everything is second- ary. But very few people mind this aspect seriously. The mediocre majority consider outside possessions to be most valuable, with little regard for a sane and healthy mind. Remember, without serene and sane mind all your outside possessions cars, shares, buildings and bank bal- ances are of little avail. Being successful means the achievement of desired visions and planned goals.
Furthermore, success can be a certain social status that describes a prosperous person that could also have gained fame for its favorable outcome.
Neither mother nor father nor any kind folk can do you so much service like a well-directed mind. So also one ill- directed mind can do you the greatest harm. Your mind is like a rich and great mine ever ready for exploitation. But
no outsider can extract anything from the mine. You and you alone can take out how much you earnestly desire. It is a single possession that can’t be begged or borrowed, inherited, gifted, lent and none can steal it. Becoming suc- cessful is not about popular notions like personal produc- tivity, habits, inspiration, emotional intelligence or positive thinking. It’s not about thinking like an entrepreneur or being a leader. For those who spend their lives doing what everyone else dreams or writes about, this is what being successful is really all about. Everyone wants to have a happy, healthy life, do meaningful work, and achieve financial independence. Everyone wants to make a differ- ence in the world, to be significant, to have a positive impact on those around him or her. Everyone wants to do something wonderful with his or her life.
People who don’t realize its importance frequently feel it as a weight over their shoulders. But remember, the only reason we need the body is to carry the mind around. Such is the importance of your mind. Hence psychologists and philosophers concluded that the man is the mind. There is hue and cry over the indiscriminate use of all natural resources which are not going to last for ever. The single exception to it is mental energy for it is so much drawn. An average individual uses less than 10% of his mental ener- gy.
Modern man is making strides in science and technolo- gy, art and architecture and exploration of outer space. But he is still a mediocre in the science of fulfillment, art of good living and in exploration of space within. The strides in the latter will give still greater and lasting rewards to the mankind. This elevates his position over and above crea- ture. It will make him an artist rather than an artisan.
The mind over matter theory clearly states the greatness of mind over matter. By mastering the mind you can cer- tainly master the matter. The real success in life comes to the man who masters his own mind. So pray the Almighty for serene and healthy mind, for success consciousness of super consciousness and not for cars or shares, building or bank balances, diamonds or gold.
