Sensex Opens Flat, Nifty Tests 10,650


Benchmark indices opened on a flat note today despite firm Asian markets. At 9:15 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 35,510, up 12 points, while the broader Nifty 50 was ruling at 10,647, up 6 points.

Shares of Emami were trading around 3 per cent higher in the early trade as the Agarwal and Goenka families – promoters in Emami Ltd – have sold 10 per cent of their stakes for Rs 1,600 crore to pare the debts of other Group companies like Emami Cement, Emami Power and others.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 75 points, or 0.55 per cent higher, while S&P BSE SmallCao index was ruling at 13,160, up 42 points, or 0.32 per cent in the early trade.
