Samba: Police under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan has arrested a drug smuggler and recovered about 100 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance in the jurisdiction of P/S Vijaypur.
Acting on an information received from reliable sources, a special vehicle checking naka was estab- lished by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary and Police team of PS Vijaypur headed by SDPO Vijaypur Ms.Priyanka Kumari and SHO PS Vijaypur Inspr. Tribhuvan Khajuria at Ring Road Near
Zamindara Dhaba, Raya Morh, Vijaypur and during checking intercepted a Mohindra Balero load carri- er having Regd No. JK11C- 0597.
During checking of the said vehicle, Police team recovered approximately 100 kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) like substance which was concealed in a fabricated cavity inside the vehicle to avoid being noticed by the Police.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Shahwaz S/o Ab Hussain R/o Khawas, Buddhal Rajouri has been arrested however his asso- ciate namely Rakesh Kumar S/O Girdhari Lal R/O Bishnah, Jammu man- aged to escape from the spot. The contraband item alongwith vehicle was seized on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 175/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and further inves- tigation started.
