Police cracks army soldier’s killing, arrests accused, seizes Ak-47 in Samba

Jammu,  In a major breakthrough, police have cracked the mysterious killing of a soldier by arresting an accused along with Ak-47 used in the crime in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Benam Tosh on Saturday said that on May 20, 2022, a case under section 174 of CrPC was initiated to ascertain the actual cause of death of 21-year-old Army Sepoy identified as Pawar Prathamesh of Maharashtra whose bullet-ridden dead body was found in a pool of blood inside the barrack.

He said that a case was registered and investigation started. The SSP added that the inquest proceedings were conducted in a highly professional manner taking into consideration all aspects and evidence and closed on merits with the registration of FIR at police station Samba.

The arrested accused in the murder case has been identified as Vaidya Khushreang of Maharashtra, said Tosh adding that that inquest initiated to ascertain the actual cause of death has been converted into murder case under section 302 of Indian Penal Code and the accused has been taken into the custody while weapon of offence has also been seized and further investigation of the case is in progress.
