JAMMU, The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Secretaries Association called off its strike after two days. The announcement was made by the Presidents of Coordination Committee of both the Provinces after holding meetings with the Commissioner Secretary, Department of Rural Development (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur.
Addressing a press conference, the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Secretaries Co ordination Presidents Anuradh Singh and Kashmir Province convener Nazir Ahmad Wani, said that a meeting was held between the Association and the officer in an attempt to resolve the issues
“On assurance of Commissioner Secretary, RDD&PR Mandeep Kaur regarding redressal of our genuine demands, we are calling off our strike,” said Nazir Ahmed Wani.
Pertinently the members of Association have been protesting for last two days alleging that they have been facing misbehavior in the field and harassment while working in the field in their respective Panchayats under very minimum wages against higher load of work.
They were also demanding enhancement in pay as per rules in other Union Territories.
