NEED EXTRAORDINARY VIGIL

In the wake of increased, infiltration bids besides intelligence inputs about the terrorists planning a major strike in India especially in view of completion of one year of Articles 370 and 35A abrogation on 5th August coinciding with the Ayodhya Temple foundation, there is a dire need to maintain an unprecedented alert not only in J&K but across the nation. Moreover, the hobnobbing of China and Pakistan has further underlined for raising guard to unprecedented level. In this regard it is pertinent to mention here that the terrorist group People’s Liberation Army killed three personnel belonging to 4 Assam Rifles unit and injuring four others in an ambush in Manipur’s Chandel district, near the Myanmar border on July 30, 2020. This separatist outfit is covertly receiving regular financial aid and weapons from China, and this attack could be seen as China’s intention to step up terror activities against India. In addition there are multiple inputs by intelligence agencies disclosing that the terror organizations are planning a big strike against India with tacit support of Pakistan and China to shake the pillars of the world’s largest democracy. With the festivals like Eid-ul-Adha, Raksha Bandhan and Janam Ashtami round the corner, it becomes inevitable to maintain utmost vigil not only across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh but across the nation. The forces guarding our borders besides those in the hinterland have already achieved unprecedented success in nabbing or eliminating the terrorists both during infiltration and thereafter as is evident from the performance of the security forces during the current year. Still there are apprehensions about presence of more militants waiting on launch pads along the LoC and may be a few who are in hiding mode within the UT to implement their plan to strike in a big way. While the DGP J&K as well as the Army Commanders have been reiterating time and again that security forces are on high alert to thwart any such eventuality, the situation demands the coordination of the highest degree among various security and defence agencies and above all supported by the alertness on the part of every individual of the civil society expected to maintain a vigil on all suspicious activities or items around them. In this regard the main focus has to be laid on more vulnerable points including National Highway, bus stations, railway stations, malls and other places. With the main terror organizations operating in the Valley having been rendered spineless in the valley, the possibility of sleeper cells already existing in the UT or other parts of the nation cannot be undermined by the security establishment. A single terror attack on a festival can have greater potential of disturbing the communal harmony not only in the J&K UT but across the nation with some disgruntled politicians ever ready to exploit such situations. Undoubtedly the Border Security Force, Army and the Police are maintaining a strict vigil to foil any of such nefarious designs of the militants, it is hoped that all the political parties across the nation sink their differences for the time being and put their heads together to put in place a mechanism to ensure that a strict hawk’s eye vigil is maintained at all costs across the nation including the most vulnerable UT of J&K, thus giving the enemies of this nation a befitting reply.
