JKSPYM organises awareness programme on “Drug Abuse, Prevention and Treatment” at GDC Jourian

JOURIAN : JKSPYM State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) organized an awareness programme on “Drug Abuse, Prevention and Treatment” for community members of Jourian in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Govt of India. Around 80 community members including college students of Government Degree College (GDC) Jourian participated in the awareness programme  which was organized in college premises. Principal GDC Jourian Dr Anuradha Pandoh was also present on the occasion. The Resource persons were from JKSPYM organization.

As per National Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Government of India (GOI), such awareness programmes need to be conducted on a regular basis covering all the strata of society.

Resource Person Taniya Sharma alongwith Novinder Kumar and others generated awareness regarding the drugs, process of drug addiction, types of drugs, preventive measures and the treatment process. They also generated awareness about the various services provided by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment i.e., Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Outreach and Drop-in Centre (ODIC) and Community Peer Led Intervention (CPLI).

“Nukkad Natak” on “Drug Abuse Prevention” was presented by the members of ‘Nat Manch’ headed by Tarun Sharma, to aware the community members and students about the ill effects of drugs and drug addiction.

JKSPYM team includes Taniya Sharma, Novinder Kumar and Sourav Sharma.  Deepak Bhati, SLCA Official ended the programme with the vote of thanks to Resource Persons and all the people who were present on the occasion. Refreshment and pamphlets were also distributed among the participants. Programme ended with discussions and Question-answer session.
