Jammu : The Jammu and Kashmir fencers yet again brought laurels by winning silver medal in 17th Cadet National Fencing Championship concluded at Nasik, Maharashtra.
The J&K Sabre team Boys, as per information, displayed excellent skill with Sabre weapons and outclassed opponent teams of Kerela, 45-32, competition favourite Punjab 45-44, Telengana 45 -36.
In finals, J&K lost against Maharashtra 45-42 and settled as Runner-up.
The J&K sabre Team comprising of Suryansh Sharma, Harshit Kohli, Vatsal Gandotra and Anubhav Sharma.
Shotu Lal Sharma, fencing Instructor, J&K Sports Council and Ujjwal Gupta, Former International medalist and state Awardee trained the medalist team.
Vir Sangram Singh and Mokshi Sharma, both NIS qualified accompanied with the team as coaches and Anuradha accompanied as manager in boys and girls category.
The team was cleared by J&K Sports Council.
Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzat Gul congratulated the team and praised effort of the coaches who trained the professional fencers in J&K Sports council training centre.
Convener J&K Amatuer Fencing Association, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Maninder Pal Singh and Supriya Chouhan, member Adhoc committee and other Senior fencers congratulated the young fencers on this feat.
