JIAR Jammu participates in 9th World Ayurvedic Congress at Goa

JAMMU: Principal, Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR), Jammu Dr Sharada, attended the 9th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo 2022 held at Panjim, Goa from 8th December to 11th December 2022.

The main objective of 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) was to provide a global platform for all the stakeholders, including industrial leaders, practitioners,  traditional healers, educationists, students, medicine manufacturers, growers of medicinal plants etc.

Dr Sharada along with 88 students and teachers Dr Rachin Shivgotra, Dr Gurusimran, Dr Namartha Raina, Dr Akshat Magluria actively participated in the Congress. Dr Sharada was Co chair in Public Outreach Programme in Arogya Expo along with Coordinator Dr Shrey B Shah. Dr Akshat presented Scientific Paper.

Students of JIAR performed Nukkad Natak to create awareness and provide information about Health through Ayurveda and Yoga for more than 1000 schools students of Goa and were well appreciated by all. JIAR Pharmacy GMP Certified Ayurveda Pharmacy exhibited their products in Arogya Expo. A grand representation of Jammu & Kashmir was made by JIAR under the leadership of Suman Sharma, Chairperson, Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education and Research, Jammu.

As per the directions of  National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), it was mandatory for all the Principals of Government Ayurvedic Medical Colleges of India to attend this WAC at Panjim Goa.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated three national Ayush institutes viz. All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH), Delhi  to the Nation during this Expo.

“Ayush Industry which was about Rs 20000 crore in 8 years ago has reached about Rs 1.5 lakh crore today, ” said the Prime Minister in his address.

It is pertinent to mention here that WAC is a platform established by the World Ayurveda Foundation to propagate Ayurveda globally in its true sense. It was the largest gathering of its kind for exploring new frontiers in the field of medicine, which started in 2002 at Kochi, Kerala. Global community actively participated in this Congress with great enthusiasm as more than 30 country’s representations were seen in the congress. It was biggest event of Ayurveda where more than 5000 delegates participated.  All the dignitaries from AYUSH including Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary; Jayant Deopujari, Chairman NCISM; Presidents of Boards Dr BS Prasad, Dr Raghuram Bhat, Dr Rakesh Sharma were present. Hundreds of Ayush Industry exhibited their products in Expo. B2B came out with many MoU’s.

The Government also plans to roll out a ‘One Nation, One Health System’ Policy by 2030, which would integrate modern and traditional systems of medicine like Allopathy, Homoeopathy and Ayurveda in medical practice, education and research.
