Jammu’s Ragav guides Rajasthan United to title win

JAMMU : Jammu boy, Ragav Gupta scored a stunning left footer to seal a win for Rajasthan United Football Club in the finals of the Baji Rao Cup at Black Diamond Stadium, MCL today.
Rajasthan United FC sealed the championship beating Churchill Brothers FC by two goals on penal- ties. Rajasthan United beat the likes of Mohammedan SC and Sreenidi Deccan to quality for the finals against veterans of Goa, Churchill Brothers FC. Shaiborlang Kharpan opened the accounts early in the match for Rajasthan United FC at the 7th minutes followed by the Jammu star Ragav Gupta’s stunning left footer that shun the net to give the team a 2-0 lead at the 10th minutes of the match. Ragav was seen deter- mined and focused on the ball-quick to take the vol- ley as soon as the ball rebounded to him. A clean international standard top corner was the result. However Rajasthan United FC conceded two goals to end the 90-minute game at a 2-2 draw. Come the penalties Ragav was seen stepping up to the task as he went on to score the second penalty after Sergio barboza’s first.
Ragav nailed it like a trac- er bullet on the right bot- tom corner of the net this time.
Such solid penalties, added to which Joseba Beitia and Martin Chaves put another two to make it 4 for the team. They didn’t need to score the fifth as Churchill brothers could only score two of their four, thanks to the likes of Rafique Ali Sardar’s gal- lant efforts at the goal. Important to mention here that young and aspiRing footballer from Jammu, Ragav is all set to play in the prestigious Hero I- League this season as a midfielder, representing Rajasthan United FC. Ragav Gupta, a 23-year old midfielder, has become the only one from Jammu to play Hero I-League 2022 – 23 dawning the Rajasthan United colours. Ragav is using all his experience from Real Kashmir which he played in 2021- 22. Gupta started his career in 2013 from AIFF Regional Academy Pailan in Kolkata and then picked up by Bengaluru FC where he earned his early professional touches with the likes of greats like Sunil Chetrri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Harmonjot Khabra. Staying with top Indian footballers helped Ragav in his trails for ATK FC as he came out with flying colours and dawned the historical jersey till 2020. It was only recently in August that Rajasthan United FC picked up Ragav from Real Kashmir to sharpen up their mid- field. Ragav comes into Hero I league 2022-23 with high confidence from his performances in the recently concluded Durand Cup where his instrumental game play in the second half helped Rajasthan beat giants of Indian football, ATK Mohan Bagan FC, drew with East Bengal and thrashed the Indian Navy to qualify for the quarterfinals. The Hero I- League 2022- 23 is set to kick off where Rajasthan United FC will play their home games in Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi.
