Jammu’s Amphalla jail overcrowded; 50 pc less staff against sanctioned strength


Against a holding capacity of 426 prisoners, the district jail Amphalla here has more than 700 inmates with half of the sanctioned staff managing its affairs, an official has said.

Six foreigners including a Pakistani national were among those lodged in the jail, the official said.

  1. The information was given to the Executive chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh Justice Tash Rabstan, who visited the district jail to review the facilities, the official said.
