Jammu Stn Director Rlys, GRP adopt 3E model to aware masses on menace of trespassing

Jammu :  Adopting 3E model, the Station Director, Jammu Tawi Railway Station in collaboration with GRP Jammu launched a special drive to spread awareness among masses especially the population living close to railways tracks on how to tackle the menace of trespassing on and across railway tracks.

Station Director Uchit Singhal said that the 3E model, which is quite new and unique in itself, combines Enforcement with Engineering and Education.

Explaining the model, under enforcement, regular cases are being booked by the staff deployed under 147 Railway Act along with regular whistling to divert the people off track and under engineering, weak spots have been identified to address the lacunae which invite trespassing.

“Moreover, under the most important factor, Education, special information, awareness and counselling drives are being done in the nearby jhuggi-basti (slum) colonies to make residents understand the consequences of trespassing which not only includes risk to their lives but affects their families and safe and smooth train operations as well,” said Singhal.

DySP/GRP Albina Malik, ASC/RPF VK Tripathi and SS Jammu also accompanied the Station Director, who further said that regular announcements are being done at the station to counsel people to use foot over bridges.

“Under IEC campaign, first drive has been done on date in Maratha Basti area near East side of the station where people especially women and children were counselled about the need to adopt the alternate ways and not to cross or walk on the tracks as this can have very harmful results,” he asserted.

“Women of the area were specially targeted under the drive as they can not only bring change in the family and the community as well,” said the Station Director.
