Jammu : The training centre of Sports Authority of India (SAI), Jammu on Saturday distributed sports kits among trainees as a part of annual sports kit distribution and coaches of J&K Sports for achievements in different disciplines.
Joint Director Enforcement Directorate J&K, Umair Mir was the chief guest while Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Deputy Director STC Jammu, Incharge J&K, Nadeem Ahmad Dar presented a detailed report about the activities and achievements of the centre besides about the future plans in expanding the coaching facilities offered by Sports Authority of India training centre Jammu.
However, Chief Guest of the event Umair Mir congratulated the Secretary, Sports Council and Deputy Director STC Jammu for the results achieved in the recent past and expressed delight to be part of the event.
He expressed views to all athletes and encouraged them to take part actively in sports activities keeping in view its scope and one can pursue a career in sports.
“This gathering has reminded me of my playing days as I was also associated with sports,” he added.
Gul in her address briefed the audience about the role of Sports Council and SAI in the promotion of Sports in J&K (UT) and assured all possible support to the athletes and encouraged them to work hard for their goals.
She also interacted with the female trainees of the centre.
Meanwhile, the Track Suits were also distributed among fencing players and officials by the guests donated by Member Sports Council, Rajeev Sharma, who is also president J&K Hockey Association.
Chief Account Officer JKSC, Zaffar Iqbal Rashid Choudhary, International referee, Fencing and S P Singh, Manager M. A. Stadium, Coaches from SAI and Sports Council, Harjinder Singh, Arushi Sharma, Basketball trainee from STC Jammu were among present on the occasion.
