Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety

LEH : To mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, founder of Sikhism, the Sikhs across Ladakh today celebrated the Gurupurab with religious fervour and gaiety at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.
The Gurdwara Pathar Sahib was built to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev ji to Ladakh region.
Devotees wearing colourful dresses were seen visiting the Gurdwara. Distribution of food (Langar) started early morning which was organized for all the devotees during the occasion.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, devotees were only authorised to seek blessing from outside of the Gurudwara for the last two years.
The celebration usually commence with Prabhat Pheris which begin in early morning in Gurudwaras and proceed around the localities singing hymns. Generally before this occasion, Akhand Path is organised all the Gurudwaras.
Sikhs officers, soldiers and locals were present during the occasion.
