Gunman Opens Fire At New Zealand Mosque, Several Casualties

NEW ZEALAND

A gunman opened fire in a mosque in New Zealand today and there were several casualties, sources said, after police deployed armed officers in response to shots fired in the centre of Christchurch city.

New Zealand police said, the shooter is still active, sources said.

Police said, they had one person in custody but they were not sure if others were involved.

Police advised people to stay away from mosques.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said, there was no place in New Zealand for such acts of extreme violence.

Police said earlier they were hunting “an active shooter” in the centre of Christchurch city.
