Girls outclass boys in Class XII JKBOSE Board Exams

JAMMU : Girls have once again proved their supremacy by securing a pass percentage of 68.25 percent as compared to boys whose pass percentage stood at 61.12  percent in Higher Secondary Examination Part-II (Class XII) Session Annual, the result of which was declared by J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today.

The overall pass percentage stood at 65 percent. Out of a total 127636 candidates including 65519 boys, 62116 girls and 1 third gender appeared in the examination, 82441 were declared qualified. Of total 82441 passed candidates, 42395 are girls while the boys strength is 40045.  The exam was conducted at 1255 centres established across the Soft and Hard Zone areas identified in both the UTs.

As far as overall Distinctions are concerned, girls secured 15988 Distinctions while boys secured 11283 Distinctions. One Distinction was also secured by third gender. In terms of overall First Divisions, boys secured 18685 followed by 17708 girls.

As many as 1966 boys failed in the annual board exams followed by 1277 girls. The strength of the number of boys re-appeared is 23508 while the girls strength is 18444. In terms of stream-wise Distinctions secured by boys, 1850 Distinctions were secured in Arts stream followed by 1033 in Commerce stream and 8400 in Science stream.

Girls secured 4468 Distinctions in Arts, 914 in Commerce stream and 10606 in Science stream.  Kashmiri language secured a pass percentage of 100 percent followed by Bodhi (99 percent), Dogri (98 percent), Punjabi (96 percent), Hindi and Urdu (72 percent).

However, in the Science stream, Shahid Bashir of Fayza Educational Institute, Faiz Abad, Nowagam (Srinagar) has bagged the top honours with 99.2 percent (496 out of 500). Mustaqeem Afaq of Tyndale Biscoe Higher Secondary School, Srinagar has secured second position (495 marks out of 500) with 99 percent marks.

Third position in Science stream has been secured by Haifa Sajjad of Mallison Girls Higher Secondary School, Sheikhbagh, Srinagar with 98.8 percent (494 marks out of 500). In Commerce stream, Irtiza Manzoor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Zabidal, Srinagar has secured first position with 98.2 percent (491 marks).

The second position has been secured by as many as 6 students. Fiza Zahra of Green Valley Educational Institute, Ellahibagh, Sriangar secured second position with 98 percent (490 marks) followed by Kritika Dogra of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (490 marks), Muskan Maqbool of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nawakadal, Srinagar (490 marks), Shriya Pathania of SP Senior Secondary School, Bari Brahmana (490 marks), Syed Mehnoor Andrabi of Green Valley Educational Institute, Ellahibagh, Srinagar (490 marks) and Vanshika Mahajan of SP Senior Secondary School, Bari Brahamana (490 marks).

Third position with 97.8 percent (489 marks) has been secured five students namely Aamir Fayaz Wani of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Bandipora, Musaib of Kashmir Harvard Higher Secondary School, Naziya Nissar of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sadiya Waheed of Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Syed Moiza Andrabi of Green Valley Educational Institute.

In Arts stream, Mahveen Wani of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Amirakadal Sriangar has secured first position with 99 percent (495 marks). Adaa Manzoor of the same sehool secured second position with 98.8 percent (494 marks). The third position with 98.6 percent (493 marks) was secured by three students namely Azmat Zehra of Green Valley Educational Institute, EllahiBagh, Srinagar Fiza Mushtaq of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, KothiBagh, Srinagar and Misba of the same school.

The maiden academic session of class 12th students of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh under Uniform Academic Calendar 2023, implemented last year, concluded successfully with declaration of result by the school education board today.

For the first time, their results are available on Digilocker service. For this the students will have to download Digilocker App and register them after filling the required details. The result is available online on the official website of JKBOSE www.jkbose.nic.in. Chairperson JKBOSE, Professor Parikshat Singh Manhas has congratulated all the stakeholders.
