District Level Sports Championship for Deaf & Dumb Sportsmen concludes

SRINAGAR : The 3rd District Level Sports Championship for Deaf and Dumb Sportsmen concluded at BHSS ground Bijbehara Anantnag.
On the final award cere- mony of the Championship, Principal BHSS Bijbehara Nasreena Akhter was the chief guest while Padma Shri Awardee Javaid Ahmad Tak, Nazir Ahmad Veen, Gulshan Saleem, Ishiyaq Ahmad, Riyas Veeri and Dr Riyas Ahmad were special guests.
The final award ceremo- ny was hosted by orator Nazir Ahmad Veeri. He said that Specially abled stu- dents must be given equal medical facilities, quality
education, speech therapy and skills to generate employment and self reliance so that a pleasant social atmosphere can be
created for their prosperity, development and welfare.
Chief guest Naseena Akhter highlighted the importance of Sports activi-
ties for deaf and dumb stu- dents. She further said that Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline, Zaiba Aappa Institute
Bijbehara and All J&K Association for Deaf is doing wonderful job by providing forma! education to deaf and dumb students, which in turn makes them able to showcase their hid- den talent.
Later, the Chairman of Zaiba Aappa Institute Bijbehara and Padma Shri Awardee Javaid Ahmad Tak said that the institute will continue its endeavours in future as well for the wel- fare of the deaf and dumb students The Championship was meant for both boys and girls of Sub Junior, Junior and Senior categories. In the Championship, the competitions of Carrom, Chess, Badminton, Shot
Put, Javelin Throw, Minor Games, Tug of War and Long Jump were held including Races of 100 mts, 200 mts and 400 mts.
On final award ceremo- ny, the three position hold- ers in all games were awarded with Momentos and Participation certifi- cates. In the Championship, Deaf and Dumb students belonging to Anantnag District participated with zeal and zest. The Championship was organ- ized by Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline Bijbehara in collaboration with All J&K Spots Association for Deaf and Zaiba Aappa institute of Inclusive Education Semihan Bijbehara.
