Congress protests against hike in petrol and diesel prices

LEH: District Congress Committee Leh and Territorial Congress Committee UT Ladakh held a protest demonstration here today against the continuous hike in the petrol and diesel prices.
Addressing to the media, Territorial Congress Committee UT Ladakh president, Nawang Rigzen Jora informed that Congress will hold nationwide agitation against the hike in the petrol and diesel prices and through District Magistrate decided to submit memoranda to President Ram Nath Kovind demanding a withdrawal of the hike.
in International market the prices are decreasing, Jora said adding that when Congress-UPA government was in power, the excise duty on petrol was Rs 9.20 per litre and on diesel was Rs 3. 46 per litre but in last six years, BJP-led Union government has increased the excise duty on petrol by an additional Rs 23.78 per litre and on Diesel by additional Rs 28. 37 per litre.
Modi Government has earned Rs 18,00,000 Crore in last six years by increase in Excise Duty on Petrol and Diesel alone. Hence, in last three and half month BJP Government has increased the price and excise duty on diesel by Rs 26. 48 per litre and on petrol by Rs 21. 50 per litre, said Jora.
He further said that as the Country faces unprecedented health and economic pandemic, Modi Government needs to provide relief in Excise duty but they are repeatedly increasing rates of petrol and diesel.
