Candle march takes out against Rajouri terror attack in Jammu


JAMMU : To express solidarity with the victims and their families of Rajouri terrorist attack, a candle march was taken out in Jammu on Tuesday.

On January 1, terrorists had killed 5 persons of the minority community followed by an IED blast which had killed a child on January 2. To express solidarity with Rajouri terror attack victims, various organizations including political parties took out a candle march in Jammu today.

Newly formed political party, Democratic Azad Party (DAP) took out the candle march from Press Club Jammu to Dogra Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, former minister and senior leader RS Chib said, “It has been observed that terrorists have shifted their strategy from Kashmir to Jammu division by targeting the minority community in Rajouri district which is unacceptable. It is a total failure of the Jammu and Kashmir Government which exposes the tall claims of normalcy in the UT.”

Chib also demanded enhancement of the ex-gratia provided of the victim families and empowerment of Village Defence Committee by providing weapons to them.

Raising slogans against Pakistan, Yuva Rajput Shaba also took out a candle march in solidarity with Rajouri terror attack victims.  “Target killing is not acceptable to any civilized society and recent killings of the Hindus at Rajouri show that present Government has failed to protect the minorities of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“Just because of the appeasement policy by Government, terrorists have built the confidence to target minorities in Jammu and Kashmir which had started in Kashmir and now being carried out in Jammu. He said the YRS is ready to protect the minorities if Government and BJP feel helpless to protect them due to appeasement policy.”

Rajan appealed the government provide weapons to VDCs on priority.

In another candle march by Dast-e-Madadagaar its president, Imran Sheikh demanded justice for the terror victim families and appealed for brotherhood between the communities.

Earlier in the morning, Pahari Tribes ST Forum also staged a protest against the Rajouri terror attack. Describing it an attempt to create a fraction between the Minority and Majority communities of Rajouri-Poonch, President of the Forum S Mirza said, “Muslim community is standing shoulder to shoulder with the Hindu brothers and will not allow Pakistan in her nefarious designs.”
