Cambridge International School celebrates Annual Day

JAMMU: Asserting that each and every child is unique with some attributes or the other, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Rajinder Sharma said that there is need to explore those attributes in the children.

“Parents and teachers have to hone the talent of children by motivating them,” said Mayor JMC, who was chief guest during an Annual Day function at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. He applauded the children for their beautiful presentation either in the form of dance or act.

Cambridge International School Purkhoo Camp celebrated its 2nd ‘Annual Day’, wherein the students were in festive look with colourful dresses from Nursery to 10th standard.

Baldev Singh Billawaria, Deputy Mayor, was the guest of honour while Devinder Singh Manhas DEPO and Rupinder Kour, BDO Akhnoor were the special guests. Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, vice chairman, CIS also graced the occasion.

The lighting of the lamp was done by the chief guest, guest of honour, chairman of CIS Viddhi S Singh, Managing Director Renu Bangroo and Principal of the School.

The welcome address was given by the Managing Director of School and the anchoring was carried out by Niyati Mahajan, Nirupama Jamwal and Suneedhi Sharma. The Programme started with a breathtaking dance ‘Shiv Tandava’ by beautifully dressed students to invoke Lord Shiva.

The School report was presented by Principal Birendra Prasad followed by a mash-up performed by the School Choir.

A musical theatre production – ‘Alibaba & 40 Thieves’ was showcased by the students, while Kindergarten children presented a beautiful JIVE dance and the Hip Hop dance and the audience was spell bound to see the Spanish dance and Hindi play-‘Veer Abhimanyu’. Mayank Sharma’s perfprmance as ‘Guru Dronacharya’ got a thunderous applause.

The academic toppers of the previous session  were given the prizes during the prize distribution including Anmol Chhibber, Hitaen Bhat, Sutikshan Pratap, Ranveer Jamwal, Pragya Sharma, Tanishq Pandita, Uzair Javed Makhdoomi, Makshi Bhat and Aakriti Slathia were awarded for their special achievements in different sports and art activities.

The whole show, costume designs, make up, designing of the function, was directed by Theatre Director Pratyush Toor from Delhi, while the dances were choreographed by Sam, Jeet and Mohit.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Vice Principal Rajni Malhotra and the program concluded with the National Anthem.
